CAFS wins the
best IMechE paper award in the year 2003
Dr. Filip received the Starley Premium Award, from the Institution
of Mechanical Engineers for the best original technical
paper and contribution to Automotive Technology presented
that year, for his paper “Friction and wear of polymer
matrix composite material for Automotive Braking Industry”
on October 9, 2003, in the Headquarters of the IMechE, 1
Birdcage, London, UK during the annual meeting of the Automobile
Division. The event was sponsored by Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth
and by IMechE. In his talk, Dr. Filip expressed thanks to
IMechE, the National Science Foundation, State of Illinois,
all industrial partners, Oak Ridge National Laboratories
and Brookhaven National Laboratories, which were supporting
his research.
