Center / Industry News New CAFS Director is Dr. Peter Filip Dr. Peter Filip has been selected as the new Director of the Center for Advanced Friction Studies. Dr. Filip came to the center in 1996 from the Czech Republic where he is a full professor in materials engineering. Dr. Filip's record includes 58 refereed papers, 59 refereed conference papers, 3 books, 8 patents, and supervisor of 35 masters theses and 5 PhD theses. He has also enjoyed collaboration with numerous industries throughout Europe and the United States. Dr. Filip's primary research contributions to CAFS have been primarily in phenolic-bonded automobile and heavy-duty brake materials. More recently his work has expanded to ceramic brakes and friction of biomaterials.
