Grading:-
homework - 20 % (due dates to be announced in class)
first exam - 20 % (during the week of February 22)
second exam - 20 % (during the week of April 12)
course project - 20 % (written and oral presentation during the week of May 3)
final exam - 20 %
Homework will be announced in class and later posted on the website. The due date will be announced upon assignment.
The first exam will cover materials (presented in class, in reading assignments, from homework, and on the course website) up until the time of the exam. Similarly, the materials presented between the first and second exams will be tested on the second exam. The final exam will be comprehensive, covering materials throughout the course.
Each student will have a course project to be chosen in agreement with
the instructor. The project and results will be presented to the instructor as a written report and to the class as a short oral presentation.
This syllabus may be modified by the instructor and
will be discussed with the class.
